Jason Turns 5 Years Old!

Today is Jason’s fifth birthday!

At five years old, he is a very happy and optimistic young boy who is eager to learn and make new friends. He enjoys playing games, doing activities, reading books, and watching his favorite shows like Sonic the Hedgehog and Peter Rabbit. He gets along very well with his little brother Robert and they both enjoy playing “pool” and “superheroes” together.

The morning started with Jason opening a few presents. There was no school today due to some unexpected snow. He will celebrate with his friends at school tomorrow.

Jason and Sonic the Hedgehog

Jason’s favorite character is Sonic the Hedgehog. He enjoys watching the cartoons, playing the old Sega Genesis video games, reading the comic books, and playing with the toys. He has several Sonic t-shirts and Sonic pajamas, which he wears all the time.

Every night Jason and his father like to read some pages from the Sonic Legacy Series of books. These 500+ page volumes include all of the comic book stories in an affordable and portable format. Jason’s room has been decorated with original artwork from the comic book. Currently on display are splash pages of Sonic and Dr. Robotnic, a fantastic page by Tracy Yardley from the Sonic All-Stars Racing story from Sonic Universe #45, and a page from the Genesis storyline which includes elements from the Sonic 2 video game.

If this was all not impressive enough, Jason is also helping out a new website at HedgehogZone.com which will showcase various Sonic the Hedgehog related collectibles! The site is just getting started, but will soon contains lots of information and images of action figures, books, and original art for the world’s most iconic video game character!

Getting Ready for Christmas

Jason Turns 4 Years Old

Today, Jason turned 4 years old!

Jason has grown up to become a happy, inquisitive, and active boy. He enjoys going to pre-school five days a week in the morning to see his friends, learn letters and numbers, and work on projects. Several of his friends have visited for play dates. Jason’s current favorite thing is Sonic the Hedgehog (the old Sega game, three different cartoon series, several books, and an action figure for 20 points of articulation). He also likes hide and seek. Jason has become more independent and likes to do many things by himself. His favorite foods are chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and cumum (cucumber) and cheese.

A few pictures from his birthday so far are shown below. He had a few presents in the morning and then had cupcakes at his school. Next week, we will have a family party for both Jason and Robert. Some time in April/May, we will have a children’s party for all of Jason and Robert’s friends.

For a flashback, here is Jason’s first birthday, second birthday, and third birthday. (Click on the links.)

Jason’s Christmas Performance

We’re finally starting to get in the mood for Christmas. We picked out and decorated our tree two weeks ago. We did some shopping and Jason had the chance to meet Santa Clause and tell him what he wanted for Christmas- a choo-choo train and a small toy for Robert. (He later refined this to a yellow choo-choo train with a yellow track and a small train for Robert.)

Last night Jason and Mike built and decorated a gingerbread train.

Today, Mike and Hristina went to the holiday celebration at Jason’s school. Each class performed a different song, then we went back to his classroom to make a gingerbread man. After that, Jason visited with Santa and received a present.

Here is a video of Jason’s performance. The song is “Snow Miser.”
