Jason and family recently traveled to Bulgaria for a fun filled summer vacation. We left on July 23, 2011 and stayed nearly three weeks until August 12, 2011.

This was Jason’s second trip to Bulgaria. His first was in July 2009.

Jason was very happy to be able to see his aunts, uncles, cousins, and great grandmother in Bulgaria. He had a wonderful time in Belitsa, enjoyed playing in the sand or in the pool. He brought back a nice collection of “mighty machines” and soda trucks.

Last weekend Jason and family went to the Day Out with Thomas in Essex, Connecticut. Jason has spent a lot time during the past two years playing with Thomas trains and watching Thomas videos, so the day was very special for him.

The day started with a ride on the Percy shuttle. Jason put on his special Thomas hat and badge.

The shuttle was an open train car. Along the way we saw many old trains on the side of the track.

“Who’s that puffing down the track?”

Seeing “real Thomas” seemed to take to Jason by surprise.

After the train ride, Jason, Robert, and Mia had fun with the play tables.

“I want really useful engines.”

The day ended with Jason taking his friend Mia for a drive.

On March 19, 2011, Jason turned 3 years old. We had a birthday party for him and also his brother on the same day. Many friends and family were able to attend and help celebrate.

His birthday cake featured Thomas the Train, which remains his long running favorite. In a few months we are going to the Day Out With Thomas, which we are sure he will enjoy.

At the age of three, Jason is an active and happy boy. He is quick to smile and laugh, likes to pretend and play. He enjoys doing “activities” like water color, drawing, “homework” from pre-school, stickers, and Shrinky Dinks. He also likes puzzles, trains, and cars. Outdoors, he likes his bicycle and the playground at his school. His favorite book is now Corduroy. Lately he likes watching Tom and Jerry.

Jason is a very good big brother to Robert. He shows much concern for his safety, often telling us to pick things up because Robert can eat them and get hurt.

On January 3, 2011, Jason started going to Pre-School. He will go to school each day from 8:45 to 11:15, five days a week.

Initially he was a little bit nervous, but after a few days he is already starting to enjoy it. Every day when we pick him up, he tells us a little bit about his day.

Most recently, he told me that he drove a car, ate an orange, and listened to his teacher read a book about a Snowman. Later, I asked him what he learned, and he responded, “Orange!”

Here is a picture of Jason on his first day, and a recent video of him playing with trains. He has learned to say “Cheese” when we are taking his picture.
